A marked departure from their debut just a year earlier, After the Snow was a keyboard driven new wave pop album. The album retains an atmospheric and introspective mood that resonates today. Modern English was formed in Colchester, Essex, England. Signed to the 4AD label, the band’s dark and artsy debut album gave way to a more commercial sound by the time of After The Snow.
